Be still in the world wherever you are,
listen to life’s lullaby;
the heartbeat, the breathing, the giving, receiving,
the sun and the moon and the star.
They all shine true through the essence of you,
a beacon of boundless light;
the father, the mother, the sister, the brother,
all are within you tonight.
Let the flow of the seas, the lilt of the breeze,
the rush and the calm of all time
carry your dreams along rivers and streams
and let you be still where you are.

You're right (carrying on from what you say over at A Year of Raeding) this is just the balm that's needed in these overly eventful times. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI needed this today. Thanks. I'm going to print it out and carry it with me.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is one to carry in our hearts and in our pockets. I like having this poem next in line after Heidi's post. It's almost like an answer to her, or a gift to help her through. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi, Charles. Your poem reminds me of the collection, "This Place I Know," which features poems of comfort for children. Thank you for your gentle, reassuring words.
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful. ♥
ReplyDeleteThe line "the heartbeat, the breathing, the giving, receiving" makes me think of Japan right now. I love that the last line echoes the first. The poem is perfect for sharing in these days. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteI'm going to carry this poem in my pocket on April 14!
