Hidin’ in a Beard

Is that you a-hidin’
Inside that big ole beard?
I wish you’d hurry up and say,
I’m getting kinda skeered.

Your momma said you growed some hair,
But I ain’t sure it’s true
‘Cause from out here I cain’t be sure
If that in there is you!

  1. I love the poem, Charles. I'm afraid, though, to ask if that's you in the photo! (Only kidding...)

  2. Ha! After only a week's worth of whiskers, I'm afraid ole Walt has me beat by a hair or two.

Thanks a bunch for hosting Poetry Friday. Always enjoy sampling your noodles.

  5. Hee hee! This reminds me of when my always-bearded-boyfriend-turned-husband shaved on day 2 of our honeymoon. Man, was I surprised...but not quite skeered! Thank you for the giggle! a.

  7. Thank you for dropping by. Enjoyed your PF poems today. Just took a PBJ break and got peanut butter on my whiskers, the beginning of a poem idea for next Friday: "Even Peter Pan and Skippy Can Learn to Write Poetry in a Jiffy."

  9. What Amy said is more my experience (and the experience of my kids). You need to write another poem about the opposite, seeing the person under the beard and wondering if it's really the same guy!
