Happy Birthday, May!
I opened the window
And in stepped May,
Bringing a party
For her birthday.
She brought roses
And tulips
And strawberry pie.
She brought robins
And chipmunks
And squirrels that fly.
She brought puppies
And rainbows
And kittens that mew.
She brought sunshine
And picnics
And pigeons that coo.
She brought crickets
And bluebirds
And beetles that sing.
She brought buttercup
Cakes
With creamy icing.
She brought all the things
A May day can bring.
She brought in herself--
She brought in Spring.

Thank you, May!
Thank you, Liz!
Happy May, Charles! With our chilly blustery rainy day here today (and same forecast for the weekend, I might have to return to your poem a few times.
Great words with great rhythm. I have missed May and am so glad to see her return.
Thanks, Betsy and Robyn. May your days of May be full of sunshine and glorious gardens of verse.
Beautiful, Charles! It makes me want to skip outside.
Lovely!
Yay, May! Beautiful celebratory poem. =)
Hooray for May!
Thank you all for dropping in -- and for sharing your Poetry Friday poems each week!
Spring, the best gift she could have brought!
Very nice, Charles! I'm a little bit late, but the celebratory sentiment is still ringing true for me!
