A Poem Is A Metaphor

A poem is a metaphor,
A wondrous point of view.
Each poem that you write becomes
A metaphor of you.

The poem’s title is your name.
Its rhyme, the way you talk.
Its meter is your heartbeat,
Its rhythm is your walk.

Your poem is a painting,
A masterpiece creation,
A metaphor of hopes and dreams--
And your imagination.

Ooooh. Great poem, Charles! So compact and perfectly formed.

(A little scary, too. In a more literal sense, people always think my first-person poems are about my life.)
