Little Winter Wonderland

A snowy blowy afternoon

I watch the snowflakes fall

and see the trees out in the breeze

put on their winter shawl.

I like to watch the falling snow.

It puts on such a lovely show.

It looks like little veils of lace,

white butterflies upon my face.

  1. Those trees in their shawls are perfect. I love that and now will see all of our spruces this way...I love when a poem changes my eyes. A.

  2. Thanks, Amy.
"...when a poem changes my eyes" is a poem!

  3. I love snow and poems about snow:>) These were lovely--the white butterflies upon my face is my favorite part--that wonderful surprise of a summer icon being used to describe snow!

  4. Brr! This is beautiful, but I prefer my snow in poems instead of in real life, which is one reason why I live in the tropics!

  5. I love the part about the trees putting on their winter shawl. I can envision the thin layer of snow building up on the trees....and at the same time am thinking about how nice a shawl feels in the winter...at least for people like me, who can't stand the cold as well as the trees. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Looks like you are doing great work. When I was a school librarian I always tried to point out the poetry section to students and also incorporate reading some poetry after story time. I need to get some more on my blog. I will look into your books, would love to review some.

  8. So sweet Charles! Not that I can relate here in Georgia. Hm. There is some talk about a winter storm heading our way this afternoon - I can only hope for some of these lovely snowflakes!
