Stella saw a star,
The brightest of the night.
Stella closed her eyes
And wished with all her might.
Stella saw a dancer
Swaying like a swan,
Spinning in the moonlight,
Dancing in the dawn.
Stella saw a mirror
Beside the ballet barre.
Stella closed her eyes--
Stella saw a star.

Awww... soft place in my heart for Stella... esp. as she's the name of one of the main characters in my 2012 novel Don't Feed the Boy! Thanks for sharing, Chuck.
I'm strongly into STARS this week after posting earlier in the week on a new book out this fall..and this poem of yours goes with that book very nicely! Thank you!
Thanks, Irene and Rasco!
I appreciate your taking time to comment.
Rasco, thanks for all your good work with RIF!
Irene, you know I love your work ... and YOU!
I can't wait to read your new novel.
Your poetry and prose always sings to me
and to all who take the time to listen.
What a lovely, lovely poem, Charles. Thanks for posting it!
Hi Charles, such a simple and moving piece. The photo is.. well, all I can say is "I saw a star" too with that beautiful awestruck face reflected in the mirror. =) Thank you for sharing this.
Did you take that beautiful photo?
