Winter Calls

Winter Calls

At the window
Snowflakes falling,
In the treetops
Cardinals calling.

On the mountain
Skiers skiing,
In the blue sky
Snow Geese fleeing.

On the hillside
Children sledding,
In the valley
Winter wedding.

In the country
Church bells ringing,
In the choir
Singers singing.

In the village
Full of sounds
Winter makes
Her snowy rounds.

What lovely images from your poem! We might have a snowy Thanksgiving here in Wooster. Would love to see winter making her snowy rounds as well as snowflakes falling. =)

I love how this poem makes me want to read aloud. I'm all chilly just reading it. thank you for sharing your work.

Today was a chilly day, and with a sprinkling of snow (though gone now) I am getting visions of those snowy hillsides full of children sledding.

Thank you all for your gracious comments. Winter is arriving early this week in the Deep South. Dipping into the 20s this weekend. Cozy warm thoughts to you and yours for a Thanksgiving full of gratitude and joy.

I came here after reading the beautifully-illustrated, clever "Holly Days," and gave a happy sigh at the end. Very nice, Charles!
