Poetry Anthologies for Children

A poem is a little path
That leads you through the trees.
It takes you to the cliffs and shores,
To anywhere you please.

Follow it and trust your way
With mind and heart as one,
And when the journey’s over,
You’ll find you’ve just begun.

Thank you, Charles, for this great list. I also love Caroline Kennedy's A FAMILY OF POEMS and Lee Bennett Hopkins's CLIMB INTO MY LAP. So many good and beautiful books out there...how lucky we are. I'd love to see your collection as I build mine! A.

Hi Father Goose,
I'm hoping you might help me. I'm trying to track down an anthology that my mother read from when I was little. I was born in 1953 so I think this book was from the 30's or 40's. It included The Puffin, but that's about all I remember.
Can you make any guesses for me?
Linda
