Summertime

The ebb and flow
of time is slow
as waves of days roll by.

They crest and fall
and seem to stall
beneath the summer sky.

Very nice! Feels like I'm right there!

How lovely is that? So sweetly (deceptively) simple, a sigh of a poem.

I love the metaphor and rhythm and rhyme. The stall demands the reader stall momentarily too.

How lovely! That really captures the summer feel for me. I love the semi-internal rhyme of "waves of days" and the idea of them.

Oh, this is one of my favorites I've read of yours, Charles. I love the way the sounds just draw you in and cradle you. Beauteous!

Without mentioning the heat, you capture how it makes everything slow down. Nice!

Thank you for your kind and generous comments. What a lucky bunch we are to write poetry for children ... and to celebrate each others' work!
